The customer had to specify the colour of the top-roll separately. Mostly he ordered a matching colour to the interior, or the colour black. Sometimes (but seldom) the top-roll got a distinctive colour. When the colour of the top-roll was equal to the interior colour, it had the same colour code. In 1971 the following colours were offered for the top-roll:
Colour (alphabetically) |
Colour code |
Black |
VM 8500 |
Blue |
VM 3209 |
Green |
VM 3124 |
Red |
VM 3086 |
Because of the risk for reflection in the front window, Rolls-Royce recommended not to use the next colours for the top-roll:
Colour (alphabetically) |
Colour code |
Grey |
VM 3393 |
Light blue |
VM 3244 |
Scarlet |
VM 3171 |
Tan |
VM 846 |
For the former colours the customer got a negative advice. For the next colours Rolls-Royce even discouraged the customer to buy them. Refelction in the front screen could be dangerous. Yet Rolls-Royce was able to produce these colours on the customer's demand:
Colour (alphabetically) |
Colour code |
Beige |
VM 3234 |
Off-white |
VM 3323 |
