Rolls-Royce Corniche II
1986, SCAZD42A9GCX15951, black
This page contains 21 (!) pictures of the wonderful 1986 Rolls-Royce Corniche II with the
chassisnumber SCAZD42A9GCX15951 (in short GCX15951). The pictures were taken in Chicago at a dealer in 2001. The car was originally ordered by an elder gentleman in the San Francisco area, who used it for special occasions. He turned the car in to the dealer in the spring of 2001. The present (2006) owner is the second owner. He lives in Virginia.
In 2004 the then owner drove the car across the U.S. as part of the worldwide Rolls-Royce Centennial around-the-world tour. The part of the tour he was on was called the Lewis and Clark Tour, for one also celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to explore the Louisiana Territory and find a route to the West Coast. They left from Monticello, President Jefferson's home in Virginia, and followed the Lewis and Clark route to Astoria, Oregon, where the Expedition reached the Pacific. Then the tour went down the Pacific Coast to Monterey, California, for the RROC 2004 Annual Meet, which wrapped up the year's festivities. There were about 14 cars on the tour, ranging from a 1931 Phantom II to a 2005 Flying Spur. This GCX15951 was the second-newest car on the Tour.
This Corniche II has a cocktail bar in each door and has picnic tables at the rear of the front seats. The Nardi steering wheel was removed before the present owner bought this car.
The photo of the speedometer and odometer shows the car's second speedometer. The first one broke at 33,000 miles and was replaced by the one in the picture. It now (August 2006) has just over 50,000 miles on it.
