Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible
1984, SCAZD0003FCX09129 , Royal blue
I saw this car in June 2007 at the Annual Rally of the RREC in Kelmarsh, England. It drew attention by its immaculate condition and its wonderful colour scheme. The owner, Daniel Lachter from London, was present. He had made a brochure of this unique car. The text is:
1985 Model Year, Right hand Drive
- One Royal owner from new
- 12000 miles warranted by mileage certificate
- First registered August 1984 in London on B44 WYM now B973 FGT
- Finished in Royal blue metallic, Magnolia leather pipes blue with Navy blue mohair hood
- Substantial and comprehensive history file
- Always garaged within royal collection in South London
- Regularly serviced only at main dealers regardless of low mileage.
In 2007 this very special Corniche had recently been released from the private collection of the Qatar Royal Family in London. It was ordered new in 1984 at Jack Barclay Ltd to be one of the first 1985 model year cars in the UK. Original specification sheets from the factory confirm its originality along with a substantial history file. Its records have been meticulously preserved as has the car itself.
It has remained in its original ownership from new where at the Royal Family's automotive storage facility it has kept company with some of the most desirable cars in the world.
An important example in terms of its provenance and condition it is presented in possibly the most desirable colour combination and represents a rare example of quality not easily found in this model today. Ultimately whether it goes on to relise its full concours potential or ends up complimenting a collection it remains an interesting find that hopefully will continue to bring pleasure to the most discerning of enthusiasts.
