After 21 years of my custody I have decided to entrust my Silver Shadow standard saloon to another Rolls-Royce enthusiast.
She is built in 1969 and is an early Right Hand Drive car with the new 1969 dashboard and with the three speed automatic gearbox. She has a 6230 cc V8 engine with a matching number, running very smooth and kept very well maintained.
The car was originally finished in Shell grey, but since at least 22 years she is finished in the warm colour Old English white. The interior is upholstered in Scarlet hides that after so many years still have the real aromatic smell of genuine Conolly leather. The unrestored leather is still very supple with a lot of patina. The wood is unrestored as well and is like new.
This car with chassis number SRH6839 has been featured on the extensive website RRSilverShadow.com. Many pictures and history were shared with enthusiasts all over the world and the car can be considered as a worldwide well known car.
The following items come with the car:
- The original handbook (very rare)
- The original toolset (not complete)
- Both original feet rests in the rear, in very good condition
- The following original documents: the sales & service handbook, the maintenance voucher book, the radio warranty, the operating instructions of the original radio and the roadmap to the factory in Crewe
- A copy of the specification sheets, build sheets and other documents, obtained from the Archives in England
- An extensive historical file
- A few parts, such as a new master cylinder
- 3 liter of RR363 hydraulic fluid
- the book "Rijden in stijl" in which this car was featured
Interesting features of this car:
- during my custody it hasn't been stored; it has always been kept alive and running, even in winter (but never on salty roads)
- it has a Dutch MOT until 21st September 2018
- it is provided with an inhibitor device
- it has four new white wall tyres, fitted in June 2017
- it is provided with a master switch (battery cut-off)
- it contains the original jack
- it is fitted with a partly electronic ignition, to be sure of the reliable working of the engine
The general condition of the car can be called "good". The car has been kept running all of the 21 years in my ownership. Most of the maintenance issues are mentioned on page Maintenance since 1996.
An official valuation report of May 2017 mentiones a value of
€ 17500. Now for sale, inclusive all special items as mentioned, for
€ 16900.

Na 21 jaar veel plezier gehad te hebben met mijn fraaie Silver Shadow standard saloon, heb ik besloten hem aan een andere Rolls-Royce liefhebber toe te vertrouwen. De auto is gebouwd in de eerste maanden van 1969 en is één van de eerste rechts gestuurde Silver Shadows met het nieuwe dashboard en met de drieversnellingsautomaat. Hij heeft de originele 6230 cc V8 motor die heerlijk glad loopt en prima is onderhouden.
Deze Silver Shadow had oorspronkelijk de kleur Shell grey, maar is al zeker 22 jaar voorzien van een lak in de warme kleur Old English white. Het interieur is uitgevoerd in Scarlet rood leer dat ook nu nog de heerlijke aromatische geur heeft van het echte Conolly leer. Het ongerestaureerde leer is nog steeds mooi soepel en heeft veel patina. Het hout is eveneens ongerestaureerd en is nog als nieuw.
De auto met chassisnummer SRH6839 is uitgebreid belicht op de website RRSilverShadow.com. Vele foto's en historische feiten zijn gedeeld met liefhebbers over de hele wereld en de auto kan worden beschouwd als een wereldwijd bekende auto.
De Silver Shadow wordt geleverd met de volgende items:
- Het originele handboek (zeldzaam dat het er nog bij zit)
- Het originele toolkitje (helaas niet helemaal compleet)
- Beide losse, originele voetensteunen achterin, in zeer goede staat
- De volgende originele documenten: the sales & service handbook, the maintenance voucher book, the radio warranty, the operating instructions van de originele radio en the roadmap to the factory in Crewe
- Een kopie van de specification sheets, build sheets en andere documenten, opgevraagd bij de Archieven in Engeland
- Een uitgebreid historisch dossier
- Een aantal onderdelen, zoals een nieuwe mastercilinder
- Drie liter RR363 hydraulische vloeistof
- Het boek "Rijden in stijl" waarin deze auto heeft gefigureerd
Verdere interessante gegevens over deze auto:
- tijdens mijn bezit is de auto nooit opgeslagen geweest; hij is altijd rijdend gehouden, ook in de winter (maar nooit op zoute wegen)
- hij is wegenbelasting vrij
- er zit een APK op tot 21 september 2018 (in 2018 moet hij nog één keer door de APK en daarna nooit meer omdat hij dan ouder dan 50 jaar is)
- hij is voorzien van een startonderbreker
- hij heeft in juni 2017 vier nieuwe banden (met een witte bies) gekregen
- hij is voorzien van een hoofdschakelaar
- in de kofferbak hangt de originele krik
- hij heeft een gedeeltelijk elektronische ontsteking waardoor hij heel betrouwbaar start en rijdt
De algehele conditie van deze auto kan "goed" worden genoemd. Gedurende de 21 jaar dat ik hem heb gehad heeft hij het altijd prima gedaan. Veel van het onderhoud dat ik heb gepleegd, is genoemd op pagina Onderhoud vanaf 1996.
Het officiële taxatierapport van mei 2017 noemt een waarde van
€ 17500. Hij is nu te koop, inclusief alle genoemde extra's, voor
€ 16900.
